2017 - the round up. by Nicole Hains

Well that went fast!!! 2017 was far busier than I ever expected and I have had the time of my life photographing a hugely wide variety of different subjects. I have photographed many celebrity chef's, Mary Berry & Tom Kerridge you were a delight. I feasted on far too many delicious dishes, photographed more weddings than I could of possibly imagined taking on (see our 2017, a year in the making blog here) and photographed so many recognisable faces from Superman (Henry Cavill) to Motor racing legends, Jackie Stewart, Mark Webber & Mad Mike.

With all these fantastic photoshoots in my diary, I made the decision that 2018 is the year for change, there are some ambitions you just can't let pass you by. I decided to change the way I work at Goodwood in search of building on my freelance work, I can't tell you exactly where this will lead me but its time to embrace the journey.

Farmer Butcher Chef, Chichester by Nicole Hains

Photographing the new spring menu for Farmer, Butcher, Chef at Goodwood.

I have eaten at Farmer, Butcher, Chef numerous times since its opening last year but the new spring menu really caught my eye.

Farmer, Butcher, Chef is located at the Goodwood hotel just yards away from Home Farm and is committed to using all the cuts of the animals so nothing is wasted. The interior was curated by  Cindy of Leveson Design and includes an extensive collection if Goodwood Memorabilia, celebrating the history of Goodwood. My favourite pieces in the restaurants are the huge glass lightbulbs that hang from the ceiling and the Christopher Howe chairs! These chairs are made out of Goodwood flags and are absolutely stunning!!

75th Members Meeting by Nicole Hains

75th Members Meeting is my favourite of the Goodwood events to photograph as it has a fantastic atmosphere, a lot less people and it is access all areas!

This year it was overcast although not too cold every day, meaning lots of flat light - not my fav at all but never mind. This is probably why I like the evening shoots the best, at least the light was interesting.

Here is just a small selection of images I took and yes that is Mary Berry!

Taking to the Skies in a 'no door' Piper Cub by Nicole Hains

On a beautifully sunny day this week I got the pleasure to go up and photographed Goodwood's Piper cub. With the window 'securely' taped open, I proceeded to hang out of a Cessna window clutching onto my camera for dear life. I had so much fun and the views where so spectacular I didn't want to land; It is official I love flying!

CKL Track Day by Nicole Hains

Today our friends from CKL Developments visited Goodwood's Motor circuit to push the cars hard round the track, after all, what the use of having so many outstanding historic race cars if you can't put them to the test!

The most fantastic grid line start with the team and clients of CKL Developments.

The most fantastic grid line start with the team and clients of CKL Developments.

The cars on the grid line varied from the Ecurie Ecosse D-type to the Ferrari 250 'Europa' GT and I just couldn't give up the opportunity to go for a drive!

Thank you so much CKL Developments for another fantastic day.

Tom Cruise Visits Goodwood by Nicole Hains

Earlier in the week I got the opportunity to photograph Tom Cruise as he visited Goodwood for a Track day with Lord March. Everyone had a fantastic day as they sped around the Goodwood Motor Circuit in new Ferrari's, McLaren's and Rolls-Royces, to name just a few.

After speeding around the circuit, we then went to visit the Boultbee Flight Academy to get a feel for the Spitfire TR-9.

1956 Jaguar D-Type 'Shortnose' by Nicole Hains

Last week I had the luxury of spending an afternoon at CKL Developments, who specialise in classic and historic Jaguars. CKL are renowned for their incredible talent in restoring historic racing cars with their original panels and parts.

I felt privileged that they gave me the opportunity to be driven in the most spectacular original 1956 Jaguar D-type Shortnose. Often regarded as one of the most desirable of historic racing Jaguars, this D-Type was fantastic to take a spin in on a sunny afternoon.

Glorious Goodwood Racecourse Campaign by Nicole Hains

With the weather unfortunately not looking so glorious yesterday; the racecourse barely visible under a blanket of thick fog and rain, it was time to proceed with this years Glorious Goodwood Campaign.

Edd Horder & his team did a fantastic job, with Ella and Bonza the horse being the stars of the show. I am looking forward to seeing the final image after the retouching!

T'was the night before 72nd Members Meeting by Nicole Hains

It was the eve of the 72nd Members Meeting and you couldn't of kept myself and a few of my photographers away! There was much excitement at the Motor Circuit for the special weekend that was about to commence; as the cars filled the paddocks and the drivers were briefed there was a certain charge in the air.

1929 Rolls-Royce Phantom I at Goodwood by Nicole Hains

Formerly the property of Mr Jack Warner of Warner Brothers, the 1929 Rolls-Royce Phantom I convertible Sedan was just about the most expensive car in the world. In fact, he loved this car so much he had a second made for Marlene Dietrich. We don't know for sure who has ridden in the car but it is highly plausible that the likes of Errol Flynn, Clark Gable, Greta Garbo, Douglas Fairbanks, Mae West and Ginger Rogers to name a few. I had the pleasure of photographing this beautiful car today outside the front of Goodwood House.

Goodwood Magazine by Nicole Hains

I have been lucky enough to have my picture of one of the 40 cedar trees on the Goodwood Estate chosen by Lord March for the Spring/Summer Issue of the Goodwood Magazine. The trees that date back to the 18th century have a magnificent horizontal spread of branches making them almost as wide as they are high.
